Punarjjani project in association with Kerala State Youth
Welfare Board and National Service Scheme (Technical Cell)
was carried out in Taluk Hospital Kothamangalam by N.S.S,
M A College of Engineering, Kothamangalam from
26/12/2013 to 31/12/2013. On 26th,the inaugural ceremony
started with a colourful procession through Kothamangalam
town. Sri K P Babu (Municipal Chairman, Kothamangalam)
inaugurated the Punarjjani Project at Taluk hospital premises.
Prof. George Issac (Principal, M A College of Engineering)
preceded the function. Sri V V Kurian (Health standing
committee chairman), Adv. Abu Moideen (Municipal
Councillor), and Smt. Sheeba George (Hospital Lay secretary)
attended the meeting.
The work schedule was from morning 8am to 5pm in the
evening. NSS volunteers did the maintenance and repairing
works in the hospital wearing the Punarjjani T-Shirts and cap
during this time period. The unit succeeded in maintaining
and repairing an assets worth of Rs. 319700 for the following
equipments. Coat (26 numbers), Pediatric coats (22), Drip
Stands (17) Stretchers (3), Table ,Wheel Chair, Oxygen
Carriers, Trolleys, Steel stool, wooden box cupboards, etc..
Volunteers were working very hard during all this time
for making the project a grant success. Sometimes they
carried on working upto late night. Also eminent personalities
namely Dr. Mani V Paul (International Personality Trainer), Sri
Sabu Cherian (Chairman, Film Development Corporation),
Prof. C Rajendran (IIT Madras), Sri P T Thomas (M P), Sri I
V Soman (Coordinator, ETI) and Dr. Dileep Kumar (Vice
chancellor, Sanskrit University, Kalady) visited and
appreciated our initiative.
Handing over ceremony was done at the hospital
premises. The Municipal Chairman and Hospital
Superintendent Dr. Ravikumar, Dr Rajeev, Mrs Sheeba
George and other hospital authorities were present in the
function. The closing ceremony was presided over by Dr.
Winny Varghese (Secretary, M A College Association). Dr.
Dileep Kumar (Vice Chancellor, Sanskrit University, Kalady)
declared the completion of the project. The volunteers were
very happy and thankful for this on field experience.
