National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. Today, NSS has more than 3.2 million student volunteers on its roll spread over 298 Universities and 42 (+2) Senior Secondary Councils and Directorate of Vocational Education all over the country.
MACE is one of the campuses where the NSS is very active. There are two NSS units in MACE: Unit 117 and Unit 118. 120 students from semester 5 and 6 and another 120 students from semester 3 and 4 constitute the units.
This academic year, the units have decided to conduct an orientation class for the students of Semester 3 for them to understand more about the NSS, on 21st July, 2015, Tuesday. The class will be conducted in the college Main Auditorium from 4 pm onwards. Those who are interested to be a part of NSS MACE are requested to attend the meeting. The members for this year will be filtered through screening processes later on.
NSS is not a platform only for community service, but also for close introspection. It is a very good opportunity to understand yourself more and to improve your personality. To attract more students to the program, the universities also offer grace marks of 2% to the students with NSS certificates. Furthermore, NSS is one of the most active groups in the college and the students get to enjoy themselves very well. So, if you are interested, be sure to attend the meeting.
